Description
This set contains one of each of the following hand-painted metal figures:
- Beefeater and Yeoman Warder: (Top Left) These soldiers traditionally guard the Crown Jewels at the Tower of London. Their uniforms are derived from Tudor dress.
- Life Guard and Blue & Royal: (Bottom Left) These guards are most often seen as part of the Household Cavalry. They still wear metal breast- plates, derived from 17th century suits of armour.
- Scots Guards: (Top Right and Centre) Officer, Marching Soldier and two Standard Bearers, with the Union Jack and the Regimental Standard. These figures display the uniforms with the distinctive bear-skin helmets. Formed in 1639 as ‘Argyll’s Regiment’, they are renowned for the part they play in the ceremony of the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace
- Gordon Highlander & Black Watch Pipers: (Bottom Right) Their kilts and bagpipes are made from their traditional tartans and they accompany their marching regiments in ceremonies at Edinburgh Castle.
