Description
Prior to WWII, Germany introduced a wide range of tracked and wheeled armored vehicles to equip its powerful military. One family of wheeled vehicles introduced in 1936 was the Leichter Panzerspa”hwagen (“Light Armored Reconnaissance Vehicle”). These vehicles were based on a Horch 801 heavy car chassis to which an armored body was added. Early in WWII they performed well as a reconnaissance vehicle for panzer divisions in Western Europe, the Balkans and North Africa. Dragon Armor is introducing a further Sd.Kfz.222 model from the Leichter Panzerspa”hwagen family. The Sd.Kfz.222 is armed with a 2cm KwK.30 cannon and MG34 machine gun in an open-topped turret. A crew of three operated the Sd.Kfz.222.
